Spring Into Style: Transform Your Home For Spring And Summer ’25

As we say goodbye to Winter and say hello to Spring and, hopefully warmer weather, now is the perfect time to refresh your space for the new year ahead. Incorporating seasonal elements into your home should not just stop at Christmas and should be carried on for every season. It is time to leave the dark, moody days behind and introduce a new palette of colours and textures for spring and summer.

Enhance your home’s character by incorporating floral patterns, light textures, and delicate colors. Complementing these elements with fresh foliage placed throughout your space, to create a harmonious, synergetic connection between your home and the natural beauty of the outdoors.

Whether its building upon what you already have or adding some new items and features in to your home, this guide will inspire you to welcome the refreshing spirit of spring and summer into your home, transforming it into a bright and inviting space for everyone to enjoy.

1.SPRING CLEANING; DECLUTTER AND REARRANGE

A good way to start the year fresh is by having a big spring clean.

As simple as it sounds, a big declutter and tidy can really open up a space and give the space a fresh feeling. It also may act as a clean base for any decorating you might have planned. There is nothing more satisfying than a clean kitchen!

I think the hardest part of it is getting started and actually finding the time to do so, but I think the best way to go about it is to go room by room and area by area, even if that is taking one room a day and gradually decluttering and cleaning.

2. A WARM WELCOME : CURATING A FLORAL DOOR DISPLAY

A good introduction to a home always starts at the front door and a lovely way to that for spring can be through a seasonal wreath! Just as you would at Christmas time, a wreath and seasonal decorations outside can make such a subtle difference, not only changing the visual appeal but also the atmosphere of entering your home.

3. FLORAL FURNISHINGS

One of the easiest ways to turnover your home from Winter to Spring can be through the use of textiles in your home. Changing out cushions covers, throws and bed spreads to can make the biggest difference to a room.

For Springtime, I recommend the use of floral patterns with fresh and light colours such as pinks, greens, yellows and blues. In addition to this, I would also play around with the textures of the fabrics you choose. I think natural fabrics like linen and cotton are always a good option. Linen has a light, airy and delicate property to it and mixed with the softness of cotton or wool can be quite nice. The feel of these two together textures together is also appealing as linen appears ‘flat’ where as cotton can be brushed and have almost a ‘raised soft texture’. Layering textures is always a good option and I think it adds more visual interest to a room.

4. A FRESH COAT OF PAINT

I always think there is no better way to switch and brighten up a room than a fresh lick of paint, and I don’t just mean the walls.

As much as the ‘sad beige’ trend is hated, I think using neutral tones on your walls for Spring is always a good option as you can then add and take away colour as you wish through changing your furniture and textiles.

You can add a contrasting colour to your doors, skirting, paneling and radiators if you really want that pop of colour and interest.

5. PATTERN PLAY WITH WALLPAPER

The idea of putting up wallpaper can be quite daunting for many, myself included but it doesn’t have to be. Simply adding small sections, bit by bit to one wall, above paneling or even behind shelving can be so easy to do and add a such a contrast to the space.

The addition of wallpaper adds so much character and depth to a space and with clever consideration, it can truly transform a space and bring it to a whole other level. I really love adding a fun, colourful wallpaper to a space that has simple or ‘boring’ colour tones because it really makes all the colours in a room pop. Adding a floral or nature inspired wallpaper for Spring can really uplift a room.

6. BOTANICAL BONUS

As much as I hate the stress and pressure of keeping plants alive, I don’t think I can stress enough the importance and power of plants within the home. In a way, it shows that you are in tune with nature. They add so much beauty to your home and you’re really bringing the element of Spring into your home.

Multiple studies show that having plants within your home have many benefits both physically and psychologically including increasing your mood, improving air quality, improving productivity and much more. So whether that’s the addition of big-leaved, potted plants or floral arrangements from your garden or supermarket, the botanical addition makes a big impact on you and your home.

7. TABLESCAPE CURATIONS

Having a decorated table isn’t just for Christmas. You can have one all year round too.

Play around with floral arrangements and candles for your centre piece, maybe add a linen table runner for depth. Change out your placemats for colourful or patterned options or be fancy and add a decorative napkin to your plates. Don’t be afraid to have fun with your tablescape!

8. LIGHTEN AND BRIGHTEN; WINDOW TREATMENTS

A subtle change you could make from season to season is your window treatments. During winter, you might opt for heavier curtains to keep heat in but for Spring you can lighten and brighten up your space with linen or voile dressings instead.

By choosing a lighter fabric for your windows,it allows the room to become less ‘heavy’ and weighed down. It opens the space up and gives off an airy feel to the space.

Good options would be linen, voile, cotton and muslin.

9. AROMATHERAPY

@houseofachill

Everyone loves a good, solid candle, whether to light at the end of the day, while in the bath, while cleaning or while reading, the sensory aspect of a home is something to consider. Subconsciously, your mind associates certain scents with certain memories and activities and therefore has a massive psychological impact within the space. Having floral and fresh candles ,incense ,room sprays and wax melts will help you bring that real feeling and atmosphere of Spring into your home.

Scents like White Lily, Rose, Lavender, Neroli, Jasmine, cotton and orange blossom are great for spring time.

10. DONT BE AFRAID TO LAYER!

My last bit of advice would be to be not afraid of layering. I mentioned it slightly when talking about fabrics but layers in all aspects of design is always a good rule of thumb when you really want to create a visually appealing home and space and one you’ll be happy in.

You can see here the contrast of the pink and navy paint go really well with the contrast of the wood floor and brass night stand. The textile addition of delicate linen curtains with cotton bedsheets and a textured wool throw and rug really add dimension to a room.

All in all really making the space feel lived in.
